John 1:14 “The Word became flesh”

John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Wow! This verse gets me excited! In the preceding verses leading up to John 1:14, John sets the stage. We now know the words of John 1:1;  John 1:2 says -“He was with God in the beginning”; John 1:3 – “Through Him all things were made”; John 1:4 – “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind”. Then he tells us about the one that would precede Him, John the Baptist, who came to testify of that light. He tells us the world did not recognize Him and did not receive Him. And then, get ready for it, he leads in with the words of hope for all of us in John 1:12-13 – “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” Wow again!! We are children of God!

Now we reach our verse, and the opening statement we will focus our prayer on today – “The Word became flesh“. I hope these words fire you up! Let’s meditate on the magnitude of those words today.

Happy Friday!  Jim
